Our Texas Donut fundraiser is back!  On Tuesday, April 30 students will have the chance to purchase Texas Donuts for $5 – sprinkle, glazed or chocolate.  All money raised will go towards Grade 9 Farewell.

Feel free to have your students buy some for the whole family and bring them home, we will have a few boxes we will save for anyone who wants to bring some home.

Donuts can be purchased in both the upstairs and downstairs atriums at lunch.  Some grades may be called down to purchase before lunch if possible.

Thank you in advance for your support!

Read to find out!

Who Can Do Poetry? You Can! - April has come and gone so quickly, but it’s not too late for us to celebrate poetry month with an activity inspired by The Toucan by Shel Silverstein (below).  Students can create their own verse and add it to our whiteboard next week to earn a sweet treat.

THE TOUCAN by Shel Silverstein

(Where The Sidewalk Ends, p. 92)

Tell me who can

Catch a toucan?

Lou can.

Just how few can

Ride the toucan?

Two can.

What kind of goo can

Stick you to the toucan?

Glue can.

Who can write some

More about the toucan?

You can!

Grade 9 Market

The Grade 9 Market will be held at McKenzie Highlands School on Thursday May 16. The grade 9’s will be using their knowledge from Math and Social to create a business plan, market for a product, survey, calculate costs, and sell a product. We will be in the gymnasium and outside throughout the day selling items to all members of MHS. The total amount made at the Market will go towards the grade 9 farewell.

The Fashion Department is looking for second hand denim donations

Send your dusty denim to our Fashion Department! This spring in Fashion, we are channeling our creativity and sewing skills into an upcycling project called, How Green Are Your Jeans?

We are looking to collect lots of used clean denim items for this project, as grade 7 students will be participating in designing and fabricating upcycled denim.

Please drop off your clean denim donations to the office.
