Lockdown Drill
Schools are required to have two lockdown drills per school year. During the lockdown drill students will not be able to leave or enter the school. Phones will not be answered for the duration of the drill. Calgary Police Service will be in attendance for our drill to make sure all protocols are followed.
Anxiety & Youth Presentation
Parents/Guardians are invited on Wednesday, November 6, at 6:30 for a presentation and discussion around anxiety and youth. Please access Eventbrite to register. Pre-registration is encouraged to assist with planning, but walk ins are welcome as well. This is an important topic as we navigate a post-pandemic social media landscape.
Remembrance Day
Hello! Our Remembrance Day Assembly will be taking place on Thursday, November 7 this year.
If you have photographs of relatives who fought in WWI, WWII, the Korean War, the Cold War, the war in Afghanistan and any other conflicts or ongoing peacekeeping missions that we could include them in our slideshow, it would be most appreciated!
If you'd like to have your relative included, please email us a picture (or pictures) of them and include a short description about where and when they served, any accomplishments or medals received, and any other important information about them. Please also let us know the student and class that they are connected to in our school.
You can send your pictures and information to Angela Rose at aerose@cbe.ab.ca or Karen Porterfield at klporterfield@cbe.ab.ca. The deadline for this is Monday, November 4. Thanks so much for your support!

What can I do in the LC lunch club next week? As well as board games, reading and our Battleship tournament, we will also have some supplies available for the next two weeks for those who wish to make a spooky creation for Halloween.
Please note we have changed the grade days for the lunch clubs starting next week.
Mondays: Grade 5
Tuesdays: Grade 6
Wednesdays: Grade 7-9
Thursdays: Grade 4
Genre of the Month: Horror
We will continue to highlight books about all things scary, and there’s something for everyone. For the younger students who may wish a milder scare, we have some well known series, such as Goosebumps, Dark Hunter and Creepover. For those students who are ready for a more intense scare, we have them covered too! Please note, the books below are recommended for the grade 8 and up age group.
- Rules for Vanishing by Kate Alice Marshall
- Horrid by Katrina Leno
- The Women In the Walls by Amy Lukavics
- The Buried by Melissa Grey
"I enjoy getting children to read. Traumatizing them is just a bonus." - R.L. Stine (author of Goosebumps)
