Stampede Breakfast

Our Stampede Breakfast is next Tuesday, May 20.  We have never entertained a breakfast like this before at MHS, so we are sharing a few details for those parents who may wish to attend.

PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN THE PARKING LOT.   We have plenty of parking on the other side of the street and on adjoining streets. Walking is encouraged.

We will start serving students at 8:45 am and likely finish serving within one hour.

Grade 8/9 students will be called first and once they are plated, they will head to their homerooms to eat, enjoy food and social time with their peers.

Grade 6 and 7 students will follow and return to homerooms.

Grade 4 and 5 students will be the last grades called, and we will have tables set up on the tarmac or gym for this younger age group.  Our reasoning behind this is, we predict the families of younger children may be more likely to come join the breakfast.  If students in other grades have their parents join them, they are welcome to eat outside as well.

Parents/guardians will be served once we finish with the students.    The Stampede Breakfast Committee is equipped to serve up to 1500 breakfasts, and we are a school population of about 850, so we will see how it goes. If you are free, please know you are most welcome to attend.

Have a great long weekend.

Mr. Martin

Transportation 2025-26

For the upcoming school year, the CBE will be expanding yellow bus service and adjusting walk zones. This is in response to Alberta government's School Transportation Amendment Regulation for student transportation that comes into effect on Sept. 1, 2025. This means many more students will become eligible to take the bus.

It is the provincial government's intent to increase the number of students who can access transportation by changing the transportation eligibility distance and how the distance is measured.

An email will be sent to eligible families about transportation registration and proposed fees.

Transportation registration is available using MyCBE.

Families must register by Sunday, June 8, 2025, for students to be added to routes for the start of the next school year.

Transportation can be cancelled with no financial impact by submitting the cancellation form by Sept. 30, 2025.

Fees are due later in October. There are flexible payment options. Families can apply for waivers if they cannot afford to pay fees.

Week Ahead in Athletics

Students are currently participating in Track & Field throughout PE classes. Individual results of each student in grade six through nine are recorded during class time which ends up resulting in our Legendary Track team. Our 2025 Track Meet will be held at Foothills Athletic Park on June 10 for those athletes who are successful in making our team.

Lunch Club News

With the beautiful weather outside, our lunchbreak club dwindles in numbers at this time of year.  However, the Learning Commons will continue to open during lunch break for the rest of the school year to students on their designated day, for quiet reading or board games with friends.

The grade breakdown for our lunch club is as follows, and takes place during the second half of lunch break:

Mondays: Grades 5

Tuesdays: Grade 6

Wednesdays: Grade 4

Thursdays: Grades 7-9

Quote of the Week

"Stories are so strong because they are alive. A story is like someone you trust to take your hand, lead you on a journey, and then bring you back home again.”
