Principal’s Message

As we reach the end of another successful school year, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to our entire school community for their support and commitment to our students' success.

Please join me in saying goodbye and best wishes to:

Ms. Porterfield: Successful in joining CBE Discovering Choices, grades 10-12

Ms. Elwenni:  Heading to Kuwait, International School, as Math Department Head

Ms. Birss: Moving to Dr. EP Scarlett High School in the role of Athletic Director

Mr. Doucet-Lewis: Excited to lead a well-established CBE band program in NW Calgary

Ms. Hogberg: Excited to retire and embark on new adventures.

Additionally, a special thanks to our departing teachers whom we were fortunate to have on a short-term basis: Ms. Mohamed, Mr. Hrycan, Ms. Bohnet, Mr. Cross, Mr. Pearson, and Mr. Guidolan.

It is a pleasure to work with a dynamic team of educators, so deeply committed to advancing teaching and learning excellence.

Special thanks to our School Council for their valuable partnership and tremendous work fund raising for all of our students.

Lastly, a huge thank you to you, our parents and guardians. It truly takes a village! On behalf of the faculty and staff at MHS, we wish you a wonderful summer.  Your kids remind us daily of why we decided to become teachers, and why we love our jobs. Speaks volumes!

Cheers and All the Best,

Mr. Martin

Principal

Week Ahead in Athletics

On June 24, McKenzie Highlands will be hosting our annual Sports Day celebration. Students in grades 7–9 will have the opportunity to purchase from a selection of food trucks between 10:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., followed by students in grades 4–6 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

We also invite MHS families and community members to join us for the food truck festivities from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.! 10% of the food truck profits made will go towards supporting student programming & events at MHS.

Food Trucks in Attendance:

  • Frozen Assets
  • Calgary Mini Doughnuts
  • Kicking Donkey Food Barn
  • Shahba Shawarma
  • Holy Griddle

Parents/Guardians of current Grade 6 and 7 students will soon receive an email regarding the Physical Education department’s mandatory gym strip policy, as students advance through the program. Please take a moment to read the email carefully and direct any questions to Mr. Irvine.

Grade 8 Multicultural Fair – June 25

On Wednesday, June 25, MHS students will be “flying around the world” as part of our Grade 8 Multicultural Fair! Throughout the morning, all students will rotate through interactive continent-themed stations, explore different cultures, collect passport stamps, and will have the opportunity to purchase international snacks (1 item = 1 ticket = $1).

Tickets will be available for purchase at the start of the day, so if your student would like to try some of the food, please consider sending a few dollars with them that morning. All proceeds will go toward expanding our classroom novel sets — helping students continue to explore a wide range of global perspectives through literature next year.

We can’t wait for MHS students to experience this exciting global adventure!
