Principal’s Message

Dear McKenzie Highland School Community

As the holiday season approaches, I would like to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude for your continued trust and support throughout this year.  It is truly a privilege to partner with you in the growth and success of our students.

This season, we reflect on the many ways our community has come together, from supporting our charitable initiatives to promoting student equity and citizenship.  Your commitment to our mission strengthens our efforts in fostering an inclusive and vibrant learning environment.  I am also incredibly proud of our students taking leadership roles, our student-athletes and the exceptional talent displayed by our fine and performing arts programs.

As we look ahead, we eagerly anticipate the return of our students on January 6, ready to kick off the second semester.  The new year brings exciting opportunities for growth, and we look forward to continuing our work together to ensure each student’s success.

On behalf of the entire staff, I want to wish you and your family a joyful and restful holiday season.

Warm regards,
Daryl Martin

Principal

They will be selling Baklava, Polish Candies, Sweet Jalebi, and Benee (donuts). Items will be sold for $2.00-$4.00 each, depending on the product. All the money collected during our cultural bake sale will be donated to the Calgary Centre for Newcomers.

Pep Rally

Leadership 9 is excited to announce their first pep rally of the year at MHS, happening on December 20! This event promises to bring the school community together with energy, enthusiasm, and school spirit. Students and staff can look forward to fun activities, including a senior basketball game against the teachers.  This is an excellent opportunity to celebrate our collective pride. Mark your calendars and get ready to cheer—this is a day our students won’t want to miss!

Winter Food Drive

It is the season of goodwill and with that in mind McKenzie Highlands is proud to partner with the Calgary Food Bank for our ‘Winter Food Drive’. Students are encouraged to bring non-perishable donations to their homeroom.  The last day for donations will be December 17 by period 3.  Please see the Wish List of items most needed but any and all non-perishable donations are greatly appreciated.

Winter Band Concert

The grade 7, 8, and 9 band students will be performing in the main gym on Thursday, December 19, at 6:30pm.  Please join us and support these talented musicians as we celebrate their accomplishments and enjoy an evening of music. Doors open at 6pm. There will be a bake sale in the foyer and entrance is by donation. All are welcome and encouraged to attend!
