From the Office Hello MHS

Ms. Hogberg is away, making our week ahead message a tad shorter than usual this week. We wish you and your children a nice week ahead and hope everyone gets some time to exhale and enjoy the start of Spring, fully recognizing it doesn’t exactly look like Spring today.

Youth and Philanthropy Initiative

A big congratulations to our grade 9 students who presented their chosen charities as part of our Youth and Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) and to the grade 09 Humanities teachers for making this authentic learning experience possible.  The presentations were of very high quality and the winning team/charity receiving $5000 goes to the Autism Asperger Friendship Society, with Sophie K, Grace B and Grace M as the winning representatives for this charity. Bravo!

Screenagers Parent Night

We invite all families to attend our parent viewing of Screenagers- The Next Chapter on April 25 from 6-7:30 pm in the gym.  This documentary examines the science behind teen’s emotional challenges, the interplay of social media, and most importantly, what can be done in our schools and homes to help youth build crucial skills to navigate stress, anxiety, and depression in our digital age.  Thank you to Council for the funds to purchase the screenagers series.  We have cancelled our School Council meeting in April in support of this viewing.

Look forward to seeing many of you at Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences tomorrow.

Have a wonderful Spring Break.

Mr. Martin and Ms. Jernigan
